Are you passionate about transportation and meeting new people? Do you want to get more involved in your community by volunteering? Then the Sun Trolley wants YOU for its Trolley Troopers street team!
“As a nonprofit organization, resources are the key to our success,” said Robyn Chiarelli, Executive Director of the Downtown Fort Lauderdale Transportation Management Association. “The launch of the Trolley Troopers street team is all about expanding our resources so we can serve more individuals and continue to enhance the guest experience.”
The Sun Trolley provides community transportation service along eight routes, which includes an on-demand Water Trolley route. As part of the Trolley Trooper team, volunteer responsibilities may include representing the Sun Trolley at local events, conducting onboard rider surveys, and visiting with local businesses to promote the Sun Trolley.
“We really want our Trolley Troopers to be a diverse mix of volunteers who are interested in promoting car-free transportation in a fun and outgoing way,” said Chiarelli.
The ideal Trolley Troopers are college students seeking experience in transportation planning and community engagement, high school students who are looking to earn graduation-required community service hours (Sun Trolley is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization), and senior adults who are looking for an active volunteer role. Anyone interested in having fun, meeting new people, and wanting to make a difference in Fort Lauderdale would enjoy this opportunity.
“When you are a Trolley Trooper, you will not only gain invaluable experience, you’ll also make new friends and learn more about this wonderful city,” Chiarelli said. “We encourage everyone with any interest in public transportation to apply and be part of this awesome team!”
